The Brooklyn DJ/producer transports the ballad from the stratosphere to the dancefloor.

Last year, the 19-year-old Tinashe (formerly of girl group The Stunners) branched out with a pair of Weekndesque mixtapes full of spaced-out beats and syrupy, mid-tempo compositions. The first single off her Reverie mixtape, ‘Stargazing’, is exactly the type of amorphous romanticism found in her (limited) body of work.

On his official remix of the tune, Sammy Bananas crafts an entirely unique vibe for the song, as he did on his edit of Miguel’s ‘Adorn’ (one of our favorite pop remixes of the year).

His take on ‘Stargazing’ (which you can download below) is fueled by sugary breakbeats (think Katy B circa ‘Broken Record’), but instead of building to a familiar maximalist drop, steps off the gas for a half-time groove centered around a sinewy bassline.
