Crooner cancels future UK tour dates.

Morrissey has cancelled all potential tour dates in the United Kingdom after failing to secure a new record deal. The former Smiths frontman was dropped by Harvest Records last year and has been unable to find a new home.

“There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows,” said Morrissey in a statement on fan site True to You.

“We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience … throughout 28 years … but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine…”

Morrissey was dropped by Capitol and Harvest Records last year following the release of his album World Peace Is None of Your Business. The opinionated singer hit back by dressing his band in “Fuck Harvest” t-shirts at shows.

The supposed final two UK concerts will take place on Sunday September 20 and Monday September 21 at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London. [via Stereogum]
