In the same month that an underwhelming Nicki Minaj joint entitled ‘Marilyn Monroe’ emerged, supposedly from her forthcoming sophomore album, another female rapper’s slowly blowing up single of the same name received the full video treatment. Brianna Perry’s own ‘Marilyn Monroe’ is exuberant and spontaneous, built on an endless stream of ridiculous metaphors and rhymes, drawled in a deeply satisfying Southern drawl over a riotous beat that sounds like a great lost Swizz Beatz work.
