Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T has spent 2012 accumulating more buzz than a wasp with a strimmer.

Amidst all the trap bragadaggio and fat-throated bellowing clogging up DatPiff, K.R.I.T’s Spring mixtape 4eva N A Day offered some sweetness and light. One of the more wistful tapes in recent years, it presented the boldest proof yet of K.R.I.T’s talent in front of the mic and (more pertinently) behind the boards. in the intervening months, K.R.I.T’s gone on to re-release his vintage mixtapes K.R.I.T Wuz Here and Return of 4Eva. After all the build-up, debut LP Live From The Underground is almost with us.

As Prefix note, the record is now available to stream in full. Despite that title, Live From The Underground is one of the breezier sets K.R.I.T’s put his name too: the mood oscillates from sleek soul send-offs through to jangly hoe-down jams. Guest spots include Bun B (cool), Ludacris (blimey) and B.B. King (wow!). NPR have the stream – click here to listen.
