When FACT interviewed Wiley earlier this year, he claimed that he’d probably never sign to a major label again.

Not because of principles we should add, but because, as the Godfather of Grime said with a laugh, “they probably all hate me by now.”

It’s true. In his lengthy career, Wiley’s had stints at countless labels – some major, some independent – and we’ve heard talk of certain US labels not touching him because of his rep. It hasn’t, however, stopped Warner Music, who today signed Wiley to a new deal. A shame for Big Dada, who released his last two albums Evolve & Be Extinct and 100% Publishing, as well as 2007’s Playtime is Over, but they probably saw it coming – Wiley also spoke in that same interview about his ambitions to “rise up … I wanna be massive, I wanna see more records than everyone.”

As RWD point out, just in time for that big Summer single… Update: and here it is. Heatwave, due for release through Warner on July 30. Stream a radio rip below.
