Jimmy Edgar always seemed like he’d probably be best off in Berlin.

The Detroit-born producer/singer’s music often evokes the ambience of a city where the weekends can last all week and sex swings form part of legitimate club-going practice.

Since moving to the city and putting out his recent LP, Majenta, on Hotflush, the producer’s embrace of techno’s second birthplace appears complete.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, Edgar’s remix of ‘Tonight’, by London duo Eli & Fur, is a typically Teutonic affair. It manages to be both sinister and sensual, with all the sonic signatures of small-hours Germanic clubbing: trippy delays, gaseous synths and a stuttering, coolly seductive vocal – whilst retaining just a hint of Edgar’s distinctive electro bump’n’grind.
