Next month, Radio 1 jock Annie Mac will release the next instalment in her Annie Mac Presents compilation series.

It’s an diverse collection on paper, yoking the likes of A$AP Rocky, Knife Party and Azealia Banks together on the same disc. The set will also feature exclusive material from upstart producer Mmoths, rapidly rising class act AlunaGeorge and, most excitingly, knockabout Scouse producer Melé.

In line with last month’s turbo-charged Melé Vanelé Volume 1, new cut ‘Space Jam’ is strident, brassy and unapologetically targeted at the gut. It’s right up there with his best work, boasting a clutch of infectious hooks and an absolutely scorching chorus. With a real melodic sensibility – some of ‘Space Jam’ has heavy overtones of Julian Casablancas’ ultra-retro solo record – and a well-cultivated sense of fun, ‘Space Jam’ serves as a reminder that Melé remains one to watch very closely. The track also comes with a perfectly pitched video, showcasing the majesties of the universe.

Annie Mac Presents is due on October 8 [via Hypetrak]
