Ryan Hemsworth reinterprets 'Sex' by Manchester emo-rockers The 1975

One of our favorite remixers deftly tackles an unlikely target.

When we named Ryan Hemsworth one of the best remixers working today, it was on the strength of his woozy versions of R&B and hip-hop tracks by the likes of Frank Ocean and Jeremih (see below).

Somewhat surprisingly, the in-demand producer has applied the same palette to ‘Sex,’ the lead single by emerging Manchester band The 1975. The original is an anachronistic piece of emo-rock, but blown up to arena-sized proportions.

For his remix, Hemsworth keeps the heart-on-sleeve vocals but reduces the melody to twinkling keys and rewrites the percussion with his usual flare. Download the remix below and compare it to the original. [via Earmilk]

Update: Hemsworth has just given away his ‘Squaresoft Bootleg’ of Jeremih’s Late Nights with Jeremih slow jam ‘773 Love’. Download it now.
