Stream Depeche Mode's new single, the sullen 'Heaven'

KROQ premieres the first single off Delta Machine.

While Depeche Mode wasn’t expected to reveal their first new material since 2009′s Sounds of the Universe until the premiere of the video for ‘Heaven’ on Friday, LA rock station KROQ has an early taste of the song on their website.

‘Heaven’ is a sweeping bit of gloom-and-doom, with a melancholy melody over a simple drum machine rhythm. Previously, Dave Gahan said that the album has “a lot more bluesy influence on it,” an apparent influence here. The single will be backed with remixes by Matthew Dear / Audion (the mix is billed as a collaboration between both Dear’s aliases), Blawan, Owlle and Steps to Heaven.

Delta Machine will be released on March 26. “It’s got a bit of a feel of Violator on some of the songs and a feel of Songs of Faith and Devotion on other songs,” Martin Gore has said of the new album. “It’s a bit of a hybrid of those two for me.”
