Aberdeen’s Lockah adds some colour to Bones & Money’s ‘Black Diamond’

Lockah bounded into view with last year’s When You Stop Feeling Like a Weirdo & Become a Threat EP on Mad Decent offshoot Jeffree’s. Production gigs have followed for the likes of Bruiser Brigade, and he showed a nuttier side on the none-too-subtle Please Lockah, Don’t Hurt ‘Em EP.

Lockah’s own Tuff Wax imprint spent 2011 and 2012 putting out the ‘Aberdeen Truth’ 7″ series, featuring tracks from Zubuntu, Yoin and fellow label bosses Bones & Money. The label have now pulled together a stacked remix EP in honour of the latter’s ‘Black Diamond’, featuring takes from Chrissy Murderbot, Zubuntu and Lockah himself. If the original sounded like SALEM jamming with Starkey, Lockah’s edit is much chirpier, adding cascading bleeps and stirring John Williams-style string-work.

The Black Diamond Remix EP is due on March 11.
