Barker & Baumecker remix 'Warm Spell' by DFA polymath Sinkane

The Ostgut Ton Berliners use a soft touch on their delicate elongation of ‘Warm Spell’.

The original version of ‘Warm Spell’ is a bubbly, Afrobeat-inflected surf-rocker. On their remix, Barker & Baumecker keep only the faintest bits of the Sudanese-born, New York-based musician’s voice and melody as they stretch the two-and-a-half minute jam into an eight-minute house groove.

Barker & Baumecker’s remix will be paired with a version of Sinkane’s ‘Making Time’ by fellow German’s Tuff City Kids, out on March 11 via DFA. A forming touring musician for the likes of Yeasayer, Caribou, and Of Montreal, Sinkane struck out on his own last year with the Mars LP, also released by DFA.
