RSD, aka Rob Smith of Smith & Mighty, is on a classic dubstep tip on his latest remix.

Working with Ray Mighty and Peter D. Rose in the mid 1980s, Smith can take credit for shaping the ‘Bristol Sound’ popularised by Massive Attack, Portishead et al. The crew’s colourful, dubby pop has proved influential in all sorts of quarters – indeed, 1992’s Stepper’s Delight became an inadvertent touchstone for the nascent jungle movement. Smith has kept up operations in the years since, releasing on Tectonic and getting the retrospective treatment on Punch Drunk.

Ramon Judah, boss of well-regarded UK dub label Reggae Roast, will drop new single ‘Deliver Me’ next week. RSD’s Dubbed out mix adds extra bassweight and some classic dubstep swing; click below to listen.

‘Deliver Me’ is out on Reggae Roast on March 18. Last year, FACT invited Joe Muggs to run through The Essential…Smith & Mighty.
