Watch a clip of Kanye West's Curb Your Enthuiasm-style comedy pilot for HBO

Back in 2008, Kanye West made a pilot episode of a planned sitcom for HBO. The pilot was never aired. You’re about to see why.

Styling himself as the “black Larry David”, Kanye worked on the pilot with Curb Your Enthusiasm producer/Borat director Larry Charles. As MTV reported at the time, the show was subsequently junked, with Charles suggesting it was “too hardcore for HBO”, and a victim of the network’s poor “track record when it comes to black shows”.

A clip of the pilot was uploaded by Kanye’s co-star Alison Quinn in 2010, but, for whatever reason, has only started doing the rounds in the last 24 hours. The semi-improvised skit shows the rapper meeting a disinterested Make-A-Wish Foundation kid, and…well, let’s just say muddled political Kanye is a damn sight more palatable than deadbeat comedy Kanye.
