Synth flick paired with live performances this Saturday.
I Dream of Wires is a feature-length documentary detailing “the history, demise and resurgence of the ultimate electronic music machine, the modular synthesizer”, featuring interviews with dozens of enthusiasts from across the board – from veterans like Trent Reznor and Throbbing Gristle’s Chris Carter to contemporary modular obsessives like Legowelt, James Holden and Factory Floor.
The four-hour director’s cut (modular fans don’t do things by halves) was given a DVD release last year, but this weekend the film gets its official UK premiere as part of the East End Film Festival in London.
Liquid Amber will host the premiere Shoreditch’s Red Gallery this Saturday, June 21, followed by two live modular performances. Grab tickets from Resident Advisor.
