Four hours of hot oscillator action.
You can now order a copy of I Dream of Wires: Hardcore Edition – a companion to the feature-length documentary, I Dream Of Wires, which premiered this spring.
The four-hour cut was originally intended as a limited-edition pressing for the hardcore fans, but if you know any modular synth fans, you’ll know that they’re all hardcore – unsurprisingly, the initial run sold out.
The extended version includes a lengthy historical primer exploring the early development of modular synthesisers by pioneering companies like Moog and Buchla, before tracking the resurgence of interest in modular synths from the ’90s to the present day.
The documentary features input from a impressive selection of talking heads, too, including Trent Reznor, Gary Numan, Vince Clarke, Chris Carter of Throbbing Gristle, Daniel Miller, Carl Craig, James Holden, Factory Floor, Legowelt and John Foxx, plus many manufacturers and technical experts.
The documentary is available on DVD and Blu-Ray from the I Dream of Wires website – watch the trailer below:
