Recon Festival, a four-day bonanza of off-kilter electronic music in Leeds and Bradford, kicks off tonight with Warp stalwarts Plaid playing at Brudenell Social Club.
The DIY-minded, sponsor-free festival has made an exciting last-minute addition in the shape of Plaid’s labelmate Clark, who follows his recent Flame Rave EP by heading up a top bill at Belgrave Music Hall on Friday night alongside Mumdance, Helm and the notorious Wanda Group.
Local heroes Hookworms will join up with Richard Formby for a modular synth set on Saturday, while San Francisco eccentric The Space Lady will bring her unique sidewalk-honed set to Bradford Playhouse on Sunday.
There’s also an exhibition from artist collective Black Dogs on “utopian and dystopian visions of the tech-future”, plus Japanese artist and inventor Ichi will co-host a one-off kids gig and workshop with Hookworms.
Individual tickets are still available for the upcoming events, so grab them now from the Recon Festival website, where you can find more information about what’s going on this weekend.
