“A bit of a cabinet of curiosity,” say the JG Ballard-inspired band.
A compilation of previously unreleased tracks and non-album cuts by cult synth duo Nagamatzu is coming to vinyl.
Out July 25 on Dark Entries, Above This Noise compiles tracks that were recorded between the band’s 1986 album, Sacred Islands Of The Mad, and their final 1991 LP, Igniting The Corpse. The nine songs are a mixture of previously unreleased material and songs that appeared on cassette-only compilations. Listen to preview clips of Above This Noise below.
The duo – made up of Andrew Lagowski and Stephen Jarvis – met at school in Ipswich and formed a band in 1982. A third member, Andrew Fleck, joined the pair in 1983 to record their debut album Shatter Days, but left before the release of second offering Sacred Islands Of The Mad.
The vinyl comes with a fold out poster with liner notes from Jarvis and an early gig flyer. Pre-order a copy from the Dark Entries site now.
