Make Music is FACT’s new section devoted to making music anywhere, whether you’re a seasoned producer or a total novice, using an arsenal of analog gear or just your iPhone.
The Fool’s Gold producer shows off his vintage gear and killer denim jacket.
New York producer Nick Hook never turns anything off in his Greenpoint studio. “If you wanna call me at 3am and we’re ready to rock I need to walk right in here and go,” he says.
It’s a mentality that’s made him one of the city’s most in-demand producers, and his studio has seen artists including Skepta, Action Bronson, DJ Rashad, Novelist and A$AP Ferg walk though the doors.
In FACT TV’s latest episode of In The Studio, Hook shows us his musical nerve centre, where analog synths, drum machines and a reverb unit said to belong to a member of Toto are controlled by Ableton Live and Push.
As Hook says: “This is like a boxing ring in here. If you wanna come in, let’s go.”
Hook will release his new album Relationships this fall via Fool’s Gold.
