A virtual gap year.

Radio 1’s Benji B has selected tracks by Flying Lotus, Actress, Alice Coltrane, Carl Craig and more electronic artists to soundtrack breathtaking aerial and drone footage from the BBC nature documentary series Planet Earth II.

The playlist takes in Coltrane’s ‘Journey In Satchidananda’ – a tamboura-led homage to spiritual guru Swami Satchidananda featuring Pharoah Sanders – as well Carl Craig’s hypnotic classic ‘At Les’ and ‘Maze’ by Actress. It all makes a nice change from Sigur Rós, that’s for sure.

The 30-minute video offers a snapshot of footage taken from the hit show, with the camera rolling over coastline and jungle before making it out into Utah’s Canyonlands where a solitary lizard is filmed crossing the desert.
