Dubstep wonderkid Joker has signed a deal with Universal Publishing.

The Bristolian has been referring to a potential approach from Universal on his Twitter in recent weeks, and the news appears to have been confirmed by his manager and MC, Charles ‘Nomad’ Holgate, who last night Tweeted a picture of “after dinner shots with the good people at Universal Publishing at the Joker signing dinner.” A later Tweet simply said “bigup the Universal publishing team, Joker is way past the black hole.”

Universal’s publishing team is the largest in the world, after it acquired BMG’s publishing team for over 1.5 billion Euros in 2006. It’s no secret that Joker, who made waves in 2008 with a series of colour-drenched 12”s which, at the time, were a breath of fresh air in a dubstep scene infatuated with greyscale, has been working on a full-length solo album for a while now, and you can now expect it to be everywhere when it drops.
