Swishahouse – the Houston rap label responsible for Mike Jones’ ‘Scandalous Hoes’ and Paul Wall’s ‘Sumn’ Like A Pimp’ – have been honoured for their work in the field of sexual health.

According to AllHipHip, Swishahouse have been given the ‘2011 Most Outstanding Educational Program Award’ by the University of Houston. The award celebrates the label’s ‘Well Woman Extravaganza’, administered with the Collegiate Cancer Council. The event has provided HPV/cervical cancer immunisations, STD testing, breast cancer education and other screenings to hundreds of people since 2009.

Label founder Michael ‘5000’ Watts said: “We are thrilled and honoured to win this prestigious award and we look forward to continuing to sponsor community events that impact the lives of so many women on the University of Houston campus.” Hear, hear.

Swishahouse, founded by Watts and OG Ron C in the Nineties, are one of the South’s legendary purveyors of chopped’n’screwed music. Artists to have features on their roster include Chamillionaire, Slim Thug and Lil Keke.
