Merrill Garbus returns with a third album of power-lunged anti-pop.
tUnE-yArDs has celebrated her birthday today with the announcement that her new album, Nikki Nack, will be released on 4AD on May 6.
Previously given the working title of ‘Sink-o’, Nikki Nack is the follow-up to 2011’s ridiculously impressive and utterly unique WHOKILL, a patchwork of adventurous production and half-feral, half-angelic vocals that topped the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop poll.
Ahead of the album’s Garbus has uploaded a tasty ‘Megamix’ album sampler hinting at an even bolder variation of sounds, with added electronic touches and stomping bass, plus she’s announced a string of tour dates in Europe and North America, starting in Los Angeles on May 5.
