"I am a prisoner and so is my creativity." Lil Wayne wants off Cash Money, blame label for delays

Weezy takes aim at Baby and his longtime label for Tha Carter V delays.

Lil Wayne has taken to Twitter to air his grievances over his long-gestating Tha Carter V, saying that Cash Money Records and mentor Baby “refuse to release it.”

“This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation,” he tweets. “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy.”

Check out his tweets below. Tha Carter V has been in limbo since its most recent release date (October 28) came and went. Meanwhile, Wayne’s protege Nicki Minaj is set to drop The Pink Print on December 16 via Cash Money; no word yet if that will also be delayed (again).

Update: Wayne clarified his position on Friday night while on stage at Vice’s 20th anniversary party. He stated “I was supposed to drop my new album Dec. 9, but due to technical difficulties I’m fucked up in a bad situation. But I will be out of this soon and I do it for y’all. So put the motherfuckin’ fives up for Carter V.”
