Sky Ferreira joins cast of Elvis & Nixon movie starring Kevin Spacey

Grungey singer hits Hollywood.

Sky Ferreira  has joined the cast of Elvis & Nixon, a movie based on the real-life meeting of the rock’n’roll god and the US president.

Director Liza Johnson’s indie film stars Michael Shannon as Elvis as he embarks on a trip to Washington D.C. to meet Richard Nixon, played by Kevin Spacey. The meeting in December 1970 was initiated by Presley, who sent Nixon a six-page letter suggesting that he be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Ferreira appears as the love interest of Elvis’ best friend Jerry Schilling, who’ll be played by Magic Mike actor Alex Pettyfer.

Jackass star Johnny Knoxville has also been cast, playing a member of the Memphis mafia who was Elvis’ head of security, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Shooting has started in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Ferreira’s been working with Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie on her “more aggressive” follow-up to 2013’s excellent Night Time, My Time.

Ferreira shared the news on Instagram.
