The former Moloko singer announces a one-off single of “roller-disco music”.

Ahead of Hairless Toys, her first solo album in eight years, Róisín Murphy has recorded a club-focused 12″ for Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels label.

‘Jealousy’ was co-written and produced by Sheffield’s DJ Parrot, formally of Sweet Exorcist and All Seeing I. “Parrot understands dancing music and he understands me,” says Murphy. “This is fast and furious; he says it’s roller-disco music. The backing track sounded so frantic, the lyric wasn’t long coming to me. So I just tried to create a vocal as demented as the music.”

Mixed by Eric Kupper, a production partner with Frankie Knuckles and Dave Morales, the 12″ contains two versions of the track, a ‘House mix’ and a ‘Disco mix’. Listen to the A-side below and grab it from March 16. [via RA]
