The Erased Tapes artist has a grand plan.

Berlin-based pianist and composer Nils Frahm has decided that from this year forth, March 29 shall be known as “Piano Day”. And why not? We’ve already accepted British Pie Week and International Talk Like A Pirate Day into our hearts, so there must be room for some more sober additions to our Awareness Calendar.

It’s not just Frahm’s pipe dream, either. There’s already a Twitter, Facebook, Instagram hashtag (#pianodayofficial) and official website for Piano Day, where you can find out what’s planned for next week’s inaugural event and start planning your own piano-based contribution.

“Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons,” says Frahm. “But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.”

To accompany the proposal, the Spaces composer has unveiled a dramatic new track titled ‘Wall’, which features some piano. Enjoy below. [via Crack]
