The BBC pays tribute to the Godfather of house music this weekend.

It’s one year to the day since Chicago house legend Frankie Knuckles passed away, and the BBC has announced it will be showing its respects to the DJ on this Saturday’s Radio 1 Essential Mix.

According to the Essential Mix’s Twitter, the show will take the form of two unaired Frankie Knuckles mixes. One was recorded live in London and the other is an unheard studio mix from 2011.

The show will air at 4am on Saturday April 4. Yesterday Defected announced a two-disc retrospective of Knuckles’ music for charity.
