Desert blues ensemble Tinariwen have announced a live album.

Live In Paris, Oukis N’Asuf’ was recorded at a special concert at the Bouffes du Nord in December last year when the Touareg ambassadors performed alongside Lalla Badi, the 75-year-old ‘grand dame’ of Tamashek culture. She’s known as the queen of tindé, explains the label, a word that refers both to the tindé drum and a poetic repertoire sung at ceremonies and special occasions.

Badi became a mentor to the Touareg in the 1970s, and the performance in Paris was her first show in France in over 30 years, coming at the end of a huge 130-date tour to promote Tinariwen’s 2014 album Emmaar.
