International dancehall vibes.

Manchester’s Dub Phizix is kicking off 2016 with a new single that stretches from his hometown to Kingston, Jamaica.

The two-track single features long-standing collaborator DRS on ‘Do One’ and Ward 21’s Kunley McCarthy on ‘Doberman’. It is released via the producer’s own SenkaSonic label on March 11.

Speaking via email, Dub Phizix told us he’s been a longtime fan of Ward 21. The group has been active since the late 1990s, working with King Jammy, Capleton, and most recently Major Lazer.

“Chimpo played me a song of theirs I’d not heard and I tweeted Kunley something like ‘this tune is massive’, not expecting anything to come from it,” says the producer. “Next thing Toddla T is tweeting back ‘collab please’, he gave me a contact and the tune came to life.”

You can hear ‘Doberman’ exclusively below and pre-order the single, on 12″ or digital formats, via SenkaSonic’s Bandcamp page.

As of January, Dub Phizix and Strategy are part of BBC Radio 1’s new Residency line up. His next release will be for Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint, with more music expected on SenkaSonic this year.
