The long-awaited sequel is coming even sooner than we thought.

It’s not just Twin Peaks that’s returning to us next year any more, the sequel to sci-fi classic Blade Runner has been pushed to a 2017 release, The Verge reports.

Blade Runner II: Still Runnin’ (no, we don’t know the actual title) was originally planned for an early 2018 release, but production company Alcon Entertainment is now confirming the film for an October 17, 2017 release date.

Details about the story are extremely scarce, other than it taking place decades after the original. Sill, with Sicario-director Denis Villeneuve at the helm and legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins shooting, it does appear to be in good hands.

Meanwhile, we’re still wondering who will step up to follow Vangelis’ legendary score of the original and put together a wish-list of contemporary producers.
