Is massive hair, a fit-in-a-weird-way lead singer and a decent album of Psychedelic Furs tributes enough to win a Mercury Prize? The Horrors will find out tonight.

But whether the Essex troupe win or not, what they will be doing is playing a batch of UK dates in September, starting at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms on December 3 and ending up at London’s Forum on the 20. It’s like an advent calendar, but with Band Aid daughters overdosing on floors instead of reindeers and chocolate.

Oh, and The Horrors next single, ‘Whole New Way’, will be released on October 19. You can read FACT’s preview of tonight’s Mercury Prize here.
