A recent post on The Guardian music blog considers the "genius" of James Kirby, and offers a whistlestop tour around his strange and sprawling oeuvre.

Kirby, the Stockport-hailing, Berlin-based artist artist best known as The Caretaker, has a new 3xCD album out this week under the name Leyland Kirby, the magnificently maudlin Sadly The Future Is No Longer What It Was.

Made under the name Leyland Kirby and clocking in at over 4 hours, it’s an ambitious work to say the least, and just the latest milestone in a career that began with V/Vm, Kirby’s outlet for pop piss-takes and provocations aimed at targets as diverse as Aphex Twin and Chris De Burgh.
