To Rococo Rot have been harnessing their singular brand of post-rock and electronics since 1995, always experimenting and looking for new routes but with an ever-increasing assurance as to what makes them them.

It’s the reason that they’re still around, and still producing relevant work. New album Speculation is to be released through Domino in March, and it’s an accomplished, deeply satisfying work. As ever, Robert Lippok’s burbling electronic interventions are prominent, but this is also an album which, in the grand tradition of German experimental music, places special emphasis on groove: witness ‘Working Against Time’, with its loping live drums and irresistibly low-slung bassline.
