After debuting in 2008, Concrete and Glass returns to  East London for 2010, aiming once more to showcase new talent in both music and contemporary art.

Featuring a wealth of live shows and installations, the focus of this year’s festival is on specially commissioned new works, with particular emphasis on “the cross-over between music, art and performance”. Details of the line-up and specific events will be announced later this month.

Concrete and Glass will take place in Hoxton Square, rather than be spread around Shoreditch like its inaugural edition. The art exhibitions will be presented in collaboration with 20 Hoxton Square Projects and the various sound art and musical performances – curated by Tom Baker of Eat Your Own Ears, in collaboration with Sound & Music – will take place at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen.

At the heart of Concrete and Glass 2010 is Heart of Glass (see what they did there?), “an eclectic group show of new art”. The works for the show will be selected from an open submission process, in conjunction with murmurART and the Contemporary Art Society, and will feature both established and emerging artists. A panel of art experts will select a “winner” who will be offered a solo show at the following year’s festival.
