Kendrick Lamar, the most prominent of Compton’s new breed, has dropped a new track featuring West Coast legend Dr Dre.

Scoop DeVille handles production, leaving Dre on rapping duty. It’s always funny hearing veteran rappers aping the tics of their ghostwriters (cf. Diddy’s Pharoahe Monch-penned ‘The Future’): Dre’s flow, clipped and rapid-fire, sounds suspiciously like it’s been snatched out of Lamar’s notebook. The Black Hippy chief, meanwhile  sounds nimble and hungry. The chorus – ‘women, weed and weather’ – neatly summarises the essential ingredients of a good-time hip-hop jam.
