Midwest meets West Coast on the new collaboration between Madlib and Freddie Gibbs.

The mercurial pair first rolled together as a unit on 2011’s Thuggin’ EP. As reported, the pair have an eight-track EP on the way through Stones Throw in a few weeks, and ‘Shame’ is the lead cut.

As with earlier collab ‘Thuggin’, ‘Shame’ is lush and soul-inflected, full of choral voices and vintage string swells. Gibbs’ flow is rapid-fire and, despite the title, entirely unabashed. B.J. The Chicago Kid steps on board too for some gentle smut and good time trash-talking. [via Stereogum]

The Shame EP is out on July 10, with a full-length to follow in Autumn.
