In which our bikini-clad heroine cruises around a sun-kissed city and steals a private jet.

Pitched halfway between The Sims and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the video game world of ‘Mr Cake’ reflects both the summery vibe of the track and Ikonika’s known fascination with the airports (at least going by the title of her new record, Aerotropolis, which can be streamed here).

Directed by Rob Walker, the video represents “escapism from a holidaymaker’s perspective and ties in with the video game theme from my last album,” the Hyperdub producer told the Fader. She also revealed that the song’s title was inspired by a cake she saw in a south London bakery: “It was a small cake at the counter in a shop in Nunhead. It looked shit.”

Ikonika’s Aerotropolis album is set to appear on Hyperdub on 29 July – read FACT’s recent interview with the producer.
