Ka‘s excellent The Night’s Gambit is without a doubt one of our favourite albums this year, rap or otherwise, and the moody, meditative ‘Peace Akhi’ is one of its most startling highlights.

We loved the track so much in fact that we dropped it into our line-up of verses worthy of standing up to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’, and it’s encouraging to see the track finally emerge with a visual element. Typically the video is as down-played as the track itself, blessing Ka’s deft lyricism with very fitting slow-moving images of the rapper playing a solo game of chess.
