We’ve got high expectations of 23-year-old Lorn‘s forthcoming album, Nothing Else, which will be the first full-length release on Flying Lotus’s recently minted Brainfeeder label.
A taster of that album comes today in the form of ‘Cherry Moon’, a track of such swelling emotional intensity that it’s liable to catch you off-guard. Sweeping Blade Runner synths are married to a rolling, syncopated beat that has more in common with breakbeat-techno than the entropic hip-hop sound usually associated with Brainfeeder, and, as the track develops, Lorn shows himself unafraid to have a good old tug at the heart-strings. ‘Cherry Moon’ will be available as a single b/w ‘Tomorrow’ on May 31.
