Mr. Hansen plans an additional album in addition to a previously announced acoustic LP.

Rolling Stone reports that the next album’s in Beck’s post-Song Reader oeuvre won’t only be an acoustic LP: a source describes another album that Beck is working on as the proper follow-up to 2008’s Modern Guilt.

Additionally, the source described the acoustic album, set for release this fall, as a “small-bore” effort like 1994’s One Foot in the Grave. Previously, Beck described the “self-contained” album as flowing from a “burst of inspiration” following the Song Reader sessions. Beck will release both albums independently after years on Universal Music.

New single ‘Defriended’ won’t appear on either album; at least one more non-album single should follow this summer. Stream the backmasked, spaced-out electro-pop song below. Beck has a handful of shows scheduled for later this summer; those dates follow.

Dates:
July 2 – Paris, France – Days Off Festival
July 27 – Wantagh, NY – Americanarama Festival
July 28 – Newport, RI – Newport Folk Festival
