The Avalanches might have just unveiled a new single – hear 'Another World'

Update: ‘Another World’ is actually a slightly tweaked version of a track by Kansas producer Amherst.

He found out for himself when he pressed play:

The samples on his original track, ‘New Whip’, include Level 42, Charles Mingus, Teena Marie and 50 Cent.

Sorry everyone, false alarm. At least it’s a good tune though, right?

Is this a new single from long-lost Australian collagists?

We’ve been waiting and waiting for more material from the The Avalanches since their 2000 debut Since I Left You, but this is the closest we’ve come to actually – possibly – hearing it.

A track titled ‘Another World’ has surfaced online after apparently being debuted on Australia’s RAW FM. Those trustworthy types at 4chan sniffed it out and posted it online, and also reckon that the voice at the end of the track is Ariel Pink – not an impossibility by any means, given that he was previously reported to be collaborating with the band.

Listen for yourself – and if it’s a fake, you know what? It’s still a pretty great tune.

The group teased a new track way back in 2012, but have remained stubbornly underground aside from dropping a mixtape. [via Reddit]
