When you strip away all the fancy bits, here’s what’s left.

It might look like a wooden chopping board and a piece of string, but this is actually a stripped down turntable. Designer Yakir Buaron, a student from Shenkar College in Israel, says his minimalist concept makes a connection between motion and music “with an emphasis on linear movement”.

“While modern audio systems hide from the user what is going on inside them, the turntable reveals the way it works,” says Buaron. The functional record player is currently being shown at an exhibition at Shenkar College – see more of Buaron’s work on his Facebook page.
