Kanye West is being sued for $2.5 million over Yeezus track ‘New Slaves’.

Hungarian composer Gabor Presser claims the rapper “knowingly and intentionally misappropriated” one of Presser’s songs without permission.

According to the suit, ‘New Slaves’ heavily samples Presser’s 1969 composition ‘Gyongyhaju Lany’, but Presser only found out right before the song dropped in 2013. He says he only agreed to the sample under the assumption that a formal deal would be agreed.

TMZ reports that Kanye sent Presser a $10,000 advance, but the check was never cashed.

This is the second time a Yeezus sample has led to a lawsuit – in 2013, Ponderosa Twins Plus One singer Ricky Spicer sued over the use of their song ‘Bound’ in ‘Bound 2’. Kanye later reached a settlement over the suit.

Kanye is now set to contribute new music to the soundtrack of the Nas-produced skateboarder movie The Land, alongside Erykah Badu and Nosaj Thing.
