Modeselektor are pretty fucking great, right? You know it, we know it. Berlin’s Get Physical label know it, which is why they asked Modeselektor to deliver the latest entry in their acclaimed Body Language mix series. Fabric also know it, which is why they’re opening their London club up on Thursday 22 October to host the Body Language Vol. 8 launch party.

The night will be headlined by Modeselektor themselves, playing a one-off live set (if you’ve seen them perform live before, whether alone or with Apparet as Moderat, you know to expect big things). They’ll be supported by Joker, Bristol dubstep producer and purveyor of the self-styled Purple Wow sound, whose own track ‘Play Doe’ (a collaboration with Rustie) features on BL Vol. 8. The disc is incredible fun, and shows just how Modeselektor are attuned to what’s exciting in contemporary dance music – as well as full-on techno from the likes of G-Man, Alex Cortex and Norman Nodge, they showcase every possible permutation of dubstep, garage, wonky and neo-hip-hop via tracks from the likes of Mark Pritchard, Untold, Peverelist, Scuba, Benga and the like. They also find space for heavy-duty dancehall from Major Lazer and the ecstatic pop of Animal Collective. It’s one of the best mixes we’ve heard all year, and it’ll be fascinating to see how all these myriad and mongrel styles feed into the duo’s new live set.

So…we’ve hooked up with Fabric and Physical and have scored a pair of launch party tickets, and two copies of the CD, to give away to one lucky reader. If you fancy being that lucky reader, simply e-mail your name and the word ‘Modeselektor’ to competitions@vinylfactory.co.uk and you’ll be entered into the draw. Winners will be notified by October 19. Don’t say we never do anything for you.
