Following the release of the ZE 30th Anniversary album, exemplary archive-botherers Strut Records are releasing a collection of new re-edits of classic ZE tunes.

ZE Records was founded in 1979 and was at the very heart of New York’s famed punk-funk, no wave and "mutant disco" scene, releasing a ton of amazing 12"s by the likes of Kid Creole, James Chance and Was (Not Was). Check out FACT’s Essential…ZE for a guide to their best releases.

The re-edits compilation, snappily entitled ZEvolution, features contributions from an array of acclaimed disco tweakers, most notably Todd Terje, Rub ‘N’ Tug and Greg Wilson. Terje tackles ‘On A Day Like Today’ by Gichy Dan’s Beachwood No.9, while Rub ‘N’ Tug are set loose on Material’s ‘Bustin’ Out’ and Wilson on Was (Not Was)’s ‘Tell Me That I’m Dreaming’. Padded Cell’s Richard Sen, Pilooski and Horsemeat Disco’s Luke Howard and Felix Dickinson are also involved.

ZEvolution features an extensive booklet with sleeve notes by Bill Brewster and an introduction by Greg Wilson. Full tracklisting over the page.
