Night Slugs will, on the 22nd of this month host a launch party for Girl Unit’s much-hyped debut single, ‘I.R.L.’

If you’ve listened to a Night Slugs set – or indeed, a Ben UFO or Mosca one – in recent months, you’ll have heard ‘I.R.L.’, a sweeping piece of mutant house that could be a sequel to Jan Driver’s all-conquering ‘Rat Alert’ and will be released on the Night Slugs label towards the end of this month.

As well as a promising producer, Girl Unit’s a very good DJ, and we’d recommend his recent mix for the Palms Out blog that features tribal house, juke, Timbaland, ‘Moments in Love’ samples and all the rest of that good stuff in life.

He’ll be headlining, with heavyweight support coming from residents Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990, Ikonika, who we recently interviewed and whose debut album, out this week on Hyperdub is one of the year’s best.

Last but far from least are R1 Ryders, who recently tore the Coronet a new hole when we booked them for our party with Together. With the driving Full Throttle EP soon to be released, expect to hear a lot more from these guys soon – you can still download their mini-mix for FACT from earlier this year.

It all takes place at East Village, Great Eastern St, London, from 10pm-2am. Entry is free before 10.30, £3 after. Facebook event details here.
