Our biggest news this week as announcing the line-up for our next free FACT party at the Lock Tavern in London: we’ll be joined on May 9 by Actress (whose forthcoming Splazsh is the first truly great album of 2010), dubstep legend D1 and up-and-coming, grime-inspired house producer (and recent Numbers signee) Slackk.

We were also pleased to report on imminent new albums from Pan Sonic (regrettably perhaps their last), Ben Klock, Robert Hood, Max Richter, Carsten Nicolai & Blixa Bargeld, not to mention reissues of classic albums by Dadawah and Oneohtrix Point Never, with King Midas Sound’s 2009 album finally getting pressed on vinyl. We also heard more from DJ Premier on Guru’s passing.

FACT mixes came from a group who should need no introduction, iconic Brit techno dons The Black Dog, and from a name that will be less familiar to you, The Hague’s boss of all things Miami bass, electro and early hip-hop, the brilliant DJ Overdose.

In features we profiled Zerkalo, Victoria Lukas’s collaboration with Drexciya/Dopplereffekt’s Heinrich Mueller, and caught up with Ariel Pink for an in-depth interview ahead of his latest album release. Oh, and we ran down our ten favourite tracks of the month – including cuts from Matthew Herbert, Skudge and Girl Unit.

In album reviews this week, Marcel Dettmann’s self-titled debut album “sealed minimal as we know it into its spartan coffin”, Prins Thomas moved away from the dancefloor and Mi Ami’s Steal Your Face and dirtybird’s five year retrospective found plaudits with our writers. The Fall’s new album, unfortunately, didn’t fare so well.

In singles meanwhile, Grace Jones got loved to life by Digital Mystikz’ Mala, Cosmin TRG took the decision to ‘See Other People’, while new tracks from Dexter and Crystal Castles were given the once-over.

All that remains for us to say is: have a great weekend. It’s a Bank Holiday in the UK, so full service from us will be resumed on Tuesday, but be sure to visit us on Monday for the next instalment in the FACT series and other big news.
