Tom Trago is preparing to release his sophomore album, Iris, via Rush Hour in April.

Many of you will remember the Dutch producer’s superlative debut LP Voyage Direct, which found him combining the surgical focus of techno with the louche spirit of disco to quite magical effect. For Iris, Trago has widened his focus, drawing on his love of house, R&B, hip-hop to create an album that feels kaleidoscopic but considered, and also one with an increased vocal presence thanks to such esteemed guests as Om’mas Keith, Oliver Daysoul and Romanthony.

The album is preceded by a 12″ sampler featuring the tracks ‘Being With You’, ‘Space Balloon’ and ‘What You Do’, a hip-house homage featuring the godfather of the genre, Tyree Cooper.

Tom has put together a 22-minute teaser mix of Iris that we’re delighted to be premiering here on FACT. It really is a teaser, in that it leaves you wanting more, but it amply and beautifully illustrates the depth and range of the album, which seems destined to rank among the year’s best. Check it out.

More info on the album here. Trago, Aardvarck and others will be in London this Friday, 18 March, for Warm’s Rush Hour takeover of Dalston Superstore; click here for details and tickets.
