The 2011 edition of Unsound Festival New York takes place over April 1-10.

We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to arguably the grandest event in the programme: a concert on Wednesday 6 April at Alice Tully Hall, produced in collaboration with Sacrum Profanum Festival, Krakow Festival Office and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. Sinfonietta Cracovia, one of Poland’s foremost orchestras, will be performing music by Steve Reich and Krzysztof Penderecki, and also Music For Solaris, which premiered at the Unsound festival in Krakow last year.

Music For Solaris marks the 50th anniversary of the novel Solaris by Krakow’s Stanislaw Lem, which inspired Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1972 film of the same name. Specially commissioned by Unsound, it’s the work of superlative electronic artist Ben Frost and composer/arranger Daniel Bjarnason, accompanied by captivating film manipulations by Brian Eno and Nick Robertson which riff on Tarkovsky’s imagery.

Our winner will also receive a pair of tickets for the two club-oriented Unsound NY events, which take place at Public Assembly. On Friday 8 April, The Bunker and The Index present Bass Mutations, with Kode9, Badawi (live), Appleblim, Dorian Concept (live), Spatial (live/DJ), Sepalcure (live) and more. The following night, Saturday 9 April, it’s a special edition of The Bunker, with KiNK, Atom™ & Pink Elln, Petar Dundov, Tin Man, Octave One, Samuli Kemppi and more.

So if you’d like to win a pair of tickets all three of the above nights, e-mail your name and the words ‘Unsound New York’ to competitions@thevinylfactory.com. The winner will be notified on or before April 1.
