Last year, we reported on two Ramp Recordings compilations due out this year.

The first, Brainmaths Vol. 1, is now available for pre-order at most stores. As you’d expect from the title, it collects material from Brainmath, one of several Ramp sub-labels. Brainmath’s releases were often vinyl only, one-sided affairs, and the label’s roster was quite ahead of its time, signing early singles by James Blake, Untold, Zomby, Sbtrkt, Brackles and more.

Missing from Brainmaths Vol. 1, it should be pointed out, is Zomby’s gut-wrenching ‘Digital Flora’, arguably the best record that the label ever released. Oh well. Ramp will release Brainmaths Vol. 1 on February 27.
